After graduating from UQ, Dr. Herriott worked as a general practitioner in outback Queensland and then Northern suburbs of Sydney before establishing his own modern practice in the Northern Rivers area of New South Wales. This was a general dental practice with special emphasis in the treatment of children, orthodontics and dental facial orthopaedics, oral surgery, pain anxiety control and aesthetics of the smile. Whilst practicing as a general practitioner, Dr Herriott also studied part-time to achieve by examination a fellowship in the Australasian College of Dental Surgeons.
In 1990, Dr Herriott moved to the USA with his family and completed a Masters of Science in Oral Biology, along with his specialist Orthodontic Degree, from the University of Louisville in Kentucky, USA. He also successfully completed his Phase II examinations for the American Orthodontic Board.
Since then he has practiced specialist orthodontics only, with special emphasis on growth and development of the growing face and dentition. He has a keen interest in adult treatment modalities.
Dr. Herriott is a full member of the Australian Society of Orthodontists and a member of the Australian Dental Association, American Association of Orthodontics and World Federation of Orthodontics. Hi, I’m Ellen, I have 34 years experience in the dental field. I joined Coastal Orthodontics in 2005, previously working in general dental performing chairside duties and then reception and practice management.
I am one of the New Patient Coordinators at Coastal Orthodontics and I have the best job in the world! I meet new people every day and look forward to introducing them to our practice.
I am one of the first people you meet at Coastal Orthodontics. I assist our orthodontist in the initial consultation, gather records necessary for the initial consultation, work closely with the orthodontist to create a customized plan, help explain the treatment required, cost involved and further appointments required.
I enjoy answering any questions about orthodontics and assisting patients on their orthodontic journey to great smiles. I strive to do my best to help relax and put our patients at ease so that they realise that visiting the orthodontist is, in fact, fun.
My husband and I live locally and we have three beautiful children (age 25, 20 and 15). I enjoy spending time with my family and friends and our great outdoors.
My children have been lucky to have experienced their orthodontic treatment here at Coastal Orthodontics.
A resident of the local area for 15 years, Lana has been dental assisting for more than three decades in the public and private sectors.
After completing her training in Brisbane, Lana relocated to the Gold Coast to pursue her dental career in Orthodontics as a Treatment Coordinator.
Lana describes Coastal Orthodontics as "relaxed and casual” yet professional atmosphere.... a key reason why people feel so comfortable as soon as they walk in the door.
Treatment is more than just braces and I understand that every patient is different so it's important I make them feel relaxed and comfortable about starting their orthodontic journey.
Lana is interested in health, nutrition and sport. I want the best our body can provide for us and it all starts with good teeth.
